1935 Vintage Riley Sports Special £39,995

Unique, Historic ex Racing car

Riley Chassis Nr 6027553

Vid-clips of the Riley ..... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=as7CXJGyvZk   http://youtu.be/o_U2S1maknw

This much-modified former VSCC Racer was constructed from original pre-war Riley components. The wide track chassis was shortened, underslung and configured to a track car. A former owner raced this well-known single-seater for 25 years, and the car proved itself over many seasons. In the last 6 years the car has been rebodied from racing trim to a period, lightweight 2-seat alloy body for use as a road car in the style of a "Beatle-Back" Sports Tourer from the pre-war era. The body design does not seek to replicate any make or production model which makes this little car quite unique and very collectable..

Currently powered by a 1998cc Dolomite multi-valve Sprint engine skilfully mated to the Wilson Pre-select Gearbox with electric overdrive. A Riley 12/4 engine should bolt straight back in if a new owner wishes to return the car to the VSCC competition circuit, however it would not drive as smoothly or as sweetly as it does with the current combination.

It offers the best of vintage running gear but with strong, torquey post-war engine

built to modern day technical standards with performance to match. Ideal for comfortable touring across UK & Europe. It also has a handy boot for luggage (and duty-free‘s!).

Recent works include a bare-metal repaint to high standard and the wheels have all been stove-enamelled. New hood, frame. sidescreens and tonneau. The hand-made body has been very well designed and constructed. Exceptional workmanship throughout, especially the mechanical engineering in the engine bay to accommodate the later Sprint engine.

Anybody who has attempted a project like this from scratch will know just how much work and commitment is needed just to get it completed to such a good standard but this unique and pretty little roadster is ready to driveaway and enjoy. Racy and powerful, and as you might expect sensational to drive with the alloy body giving impressive power to weight ratio!

Spec includes Engine Toolbox with mallet, jack and brace, Fly-off handbrake, Le Mans style alloy fuel filler (w/Riley badge) 4-spoke steering wheel (w/Riley emblem) Knock-off wire wheels w/chrome spinners on splined hubs, Cycle wings,  original style seat upholstery, dash instrumentation, and lighting. Flashing indicators tastefully incorporated within period styling, Riley-badged chrome headlamps, Folding windscreen with side screens, Valuable Plate ADD874 (alone worth £3000). Taxed and MOT’d ready to drive away.

Vintage Riley Specials are rarely offered for sale and this unique example is bound to appreciate as the years go by.
